Collectors Meet CM to Discuss Farmer Loan Waiver
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that every farmer family with a land passbook loan will be eligible for a ₹2 lakh waiver. During a conference with collectors held at the state secretariat on Tuesday, the Chief Minister disclosed various aspects of the loan waiver.
Importance of Ration Cards
He clarified that ration cards are used solely for family identification. The state has 9 million ration cards, with 7 million farmer accounts having loans. He added that 636,000 farmers without ration cards also have loans and will be eligible for the waiver. The Chief Minister emphasized that no farmer would be left out because they lack a ration card.
Instructions to Collectors
CM Revanth Reddy instructed collectors to hold meetings with district bankers on the 18th of this month (Thursday) at 11 AM. He advised that the funds released by the government for loan waivers should be used exclusively for farmer loans and not for personal or other loans. He warned that the central government had taken action against some bankers who misused funds in the past and would do so again if necessary.
Release of Loan Waiver Funds
The Chief Minister announced that funds up to ₹1 lakh would be credited to farmers’ accounts by 4 PM on the 18th. He suggested ministers, MLAs, and other public representatives from respective districts share the joy with farmers at Rythu Vedikas (farmer forums), where the loan waivers are executed.
Availability of Senior Officials
Senior officials will be made available at the secretariat for two districts each to address any doubts or issues. The Chief Minister urged collectors to consult these officials to resolve any concerns related to the farmer loan waiver.
This loan waiver is expected to provide greater financial security to farmers. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed hope that this initiative would be a major step towards the welfare of farmers.
