Relief for Farmers: Key Actions in Loan Waiver Scheme Implementation

The Telangana government has decided to credit up to ₹1 lakh into farmers’ loan accounts by Thursday evening as part of the farmer loan waiver scheme. This decision will be implemented after directives are sent to bankers. The government has also planned celebrations with loan waiver beneficiaries at Rythu Vedikas (farmer platforms) on the same day. Ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and other public representatives will attend these events.

Details of the Loan Waiver Scheme

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy clarified that loan waivers up to ₹2 lakh will be provided to farmers based on their Pattadar passbooks. He stated that the ration card requirement was imposed only to identify family details during a conference with collectors on Tuesday.

Instructions to Collectors from the Chief Minister

“Farmer loan waiver is extremely prestigious for the government. Collectors should pay special attention to its implementation. No farmer should face any loss. Collectors should hold a meeting with district bankers at 11 AM on the 18th of this month. On the same day, at 4 PM, loan waiver funds up to ₹1 lakh will be credited to farmers’ accounts. Funds released by the government should be used exclusively for the farmer loan waiver. Do not use them for personal or other loan waivers,” the Chief Minister stated.

Regulations on the Loan Waiver Scheme

Following criticism of the ration card requirement in the guidelines issued on Monday, the Chief Minister provided clarity. Despite the criticisms, the government is taking special care of farmers’ welfare.

In the collectors’ conference, the Chief Minister directed strict action against companies producing fake seeds. This loan waiver scheme for farmers is of great prestige to the government. It’s a significant step towards the welfare of farmers.
