Special Initiatives to Attract Tourists to Andhra Pradesh Zoos
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and State Forest Minister Pawan Kalyan has directed officials to take extraordinary measures to develop zoos in the state. He emphasized creating strategies to attract more tourists to the zoos in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati. During the 14th meeting of the Zoo Park Authority of Andhra Pradesh Governing Body at his residence in Mangalagiri on Wednesday, officials presented details on the management and financial aspects of the state’s zoos to Pawan Kalyan.
As the honorary chairman of the Zoo Park Authority of Andhra Pradesh, he discussed various topics, including the development of zoos and eco-friendly tourism.
Pawan Kalyan stressed the importance of developing zoos to international standards and enhancing eco-friendly activities to captivate tourists. He directed officials to focus on public-private partnership (PPP) models for funding and importing rare and attractive animals. He also emphasized creating a memorable wildlife experience for tourists.
Encouraging Corporate Participation
Pawan Kalyan suggested involving corporations in zoo development and utilizing CSR funds for necessary improvements. He recommended formulating strategies for industrialists to adopt animals personally and seek donations for development. Special meetings in Tirupati and Visakhapatnam were proposed to promote these initiatives. Additionally, he suggested organizing a “Tea with Deputy CM” event to attract industrialists and corporate representatives to participate in zoo development.
Exploring New Zoo Parks
The Deputy CM instructed officials to explore opportunities to establish new zoo parks across the state and create reports on setting up zoo parks by zone. He discussed models related to tourism and eco-friendly tourism development, aiming to transform Andhra Pradesh into a tourism hub. The meeting was attended by PCCF (HoFF) Chiranjeevi Choudhary, Tourism Commissioner K. Kannababu, senior forest officials A.K. Nayak, Dr. Shantipriya Pandey, Saravanan, Dr. N. Nageswara Rao, Srikantanath Reddy, C. Selvam, Mangamma, N. Nagarani, and SV University Veterinary Department Dean Dr. K. Veerabrahmayya.
