Immediate Measures in Affected Areas
State Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, Mr Pawan Kalyan, has directed the relevant department officials to take necessary measures to ensure that people in flood-affected villages are not inconvenienced due to the continuous rains.
Focus on Drinking Water Supply
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the importance of focusing on the supply of safe drinking water. He instructed that war footing measures should be taken to address this issue. He also advised continuous monitoring of water chlorination to prevent contamination.
Discussions in Party Meetings
On Monday afternoon, during a meeting with Janasena Party legislators held in his office at the Legislative Assembly, Mr Pawan Kalyan discussed the impact of rains and floods with MLAs. Legislators from flood-affected areas described the conditions in their constituencies. They discussed the situation in Velairpad Mandal of Polavaram constituency, where 12 villages are entirely submerged. The impact of the Pedavagu project, which has caused flooding in these villages, was also deliberated.
Instructions to Officials
The Deputy Chief Minister inquired about the conditions in the villages of Velairpad and Kukkunoor Mandals. MLAs detailed the flood impact in various parts of the Godavari districts. He instructed relevant officials to ensure the supply of safe drinking water in flood-affected villages and to take appropriate measures to prevent the outbreak of infectious diseases. The Panchayat Raj engineering officials were asked to report the extent of damage to roads caused by these rains. He suggested identifying the roads that need immediate repairs.
