Hailing from Madhya Pradesh, Upendra Dwivedi studied at the Sainik School in Rewa. He joined the National Defence Academy (NDA) in January 1981 and was commissioned into the 18th Battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles in December 1984.

4. Anti-Terror Operations

General Dwivedi led a battalion in anti-terror operations in the Kashmir Valley and Rajasthan desert. He also served as the Inspector General of Assam Rifles and as the Sector Commander of Assam Rifles, contributing significantly to counter-terrorism efforts.

5. Command Roles

He commanded the Eastern Command and was responsible for the Indo-Myanmar border management. Later, he commanded the Rising Star Corps, demonstrating his exceptional leadership skills.

6. Leading the Western and Northern Fronts

From 2022 to 2024, General Dwivedi led the Western and Northern Army fronts, facing numerous challenges and ensuring the security of the nation.
