Revanth Reddy's Neglect of Brahmins Sparks Controversy

PaperDabba News Desk: July 17, 2024
BJP state vice president NVSS Prabhakar has strongly criticized PCC President Revanth Reddy for neglecting the Brahmin community after coming to power. Despite Revanth’s elaborate rituals and seeking astrologers’ advice before initiating programs, the government has failed to address key issues facing Brahmins, including educational funds and support for vedic schools.

Revanth’s Rituals and Promises

Revanth Reddy, the President of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), has always been known for his traditional approach. He began his political journey by paying respects to cows and seeking advice from astrologers to determine auspicious timings for his events. Vedic scholars played a significant role in his initial political activities. However, his actions after assuming office have disappointed the Brahmin community.

Failure to Address Brahmin Issues

Despite being in power for seven months, Revanth Reddy’s government has failed to address several critical issues concerning the Brahmins. The Brahmin Parishad, which facilitated students studying abroad, has been left in the lurch as the new government has not released the second phase of funds. This neglect has left many students struggling to manage their expenses abroad.

Unfulfilled Promises of Employment and Support

The government had promised self-employment loans under various schemes, but these promises have not been fulfilled. Many Brahmin youths hoping to start their businesses are still waiting for the financial assistance they were assured of. Additionally, the support that was supposed to be provided to Vedic schools has not materialized, putting these traditional institutions at risk.

In a move that has further angered the community, cases have been filed against gau rakshaks (cow protectors) in the state. This action has been perceived as an attack on those who are dedicated to protecting and preserving traditional Hindu values.

Neglect of Temple Priests

Another contentious issue is the transfer of temple priests. Historically, no government has transferred priests from self-manifested temples, but Revanth Reddy’s administration has broken this tradition. Furthermore, despite scholars’ advice to maintain the sanctity of temples, the government’s actions have been viewed as disrespectful.

Call for Action

The Brahmin community now demands that the upcoming budget sessions allocate sufficient funds to the Brahmin Parishad. They are calling for immediate action to support students abroad, provide the promised self-employment loans, and ensure Vedic schools’ proper functioning. The community believes addressing these issues is crucial for preserving cultural and traditional values.

The neglect of the Brahmin community by Revanth Reddy’s government has sparked widespread controversy. As the budget sessions approach, it remains to be seen whether the government will take the necessary steps to address these concerns and restore the faith of the Brahmin community.
