YSRCP’s Achievements in the Electricity Sector

Reddy highlighted the achievements of the YSR Congress Party under the leadership of YS Jaganmohan Reddy. He stated that the electricity sector has seen significant growth and improvement during Jaganmohan Reddy’s tenure.

Allegations Against Chandrababu

Reddy accused Chandrababu of using the white paper as a tool to criticize the YSRCP government instead of providing a factual representation of the sector’s status. He noted that Chandrababu boasted about increasing electricity production while ignoring the actual demand and growth rates during Jaganmohan Reddy’s tenure.

Comparative Growth Rates

Reddy provided statistics to compare the growth rates of the electricity sector under both administrations. He mentioned that the electricity demand increased by 25% and reached 80,151 units during Jaganmohan Reddy’s tenure. The growth rate was 4.7%, higher than the national average, while it was only 1.9% during Chandrababu’s period.

Financial Mismanagement Allegations

Reddy accused Chandrababu of leaving the electricity sector in a debt-ridden state. He mentioned that the outstanding dues were Rs. 29,550 crores when Chandrababu took office and rose to Rs. 86,215 crores by 2019.

Misleading Solar Agreements

Reddy criticized the solar power agreements made during Chandrababu’s tenure, stating that they were overpriced compared to global standards, causing financial losses. He also pointed out that Jaganmohan Reddy’s administration paid the pending subsidies to farmers, reducing their financial burden.

Reddy concluded by urging Chandrababu to respond to the issues raised and clarify the misleading statements made in the white paper. He emphasized the progress made under Jaganmohan Reddy’s leadership and the importance of presenting accurate information to the public.
