NEW DELHI: Air India has launched an investigation following a disturbing incident on flight AI 175 from Bengaluru to San Francisco, where a passenger found a metal blade in their in-flight meal. The incident, reported by passenger Mathures Paul, has raised concerns about food safety protocols aboard the airline.

Mathures Paul shared his unsettling experience on social media, describing how he discovered the metal object resembling a blade while consuming roasted sweet potato and fig chaat. “Air India food can cut like a knife,” he remarked. “I got a feel of it only after chewing the grub for a few seconds. Thankfully, no harm was done.”

In response to the incident, Air India’s Chief Customer Experience Officer, Rajesh Dogra, confirmed that the foreign object had originated from the vegetable processing machine used by their catering partner. “After investigation, it has been identified as coming from the vegetable processing machine used at the facilities of our catering partner,” stated Dogra.

Dogra further assured that immediate steps were taken to prevent any recurrence of such incidents. “We have worked with our catering partner to strengthen measures, including more frequent checking of the processor, especially after chopping any hard vegetable,” he added.
