Telangana: BJP Demands Sacking Of Health Minister Over Death Of 4 Women After 'Botched' Surgery

New Delhi: Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday demanded that chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao immediately sack state health minister T Harish Rao alleging he was responsible for the death of four women due to botched family planning operations.

“Harish Rao, who was holding the portfolio of health and family welfare, should be held responsible for the botched sterilisation surgeries that led to the death of four women,” MP Sanjay Kumar said alleging chief minister KCR is not bothered about taking any action against Harish Rao.

It is to be noted that Sanjay had met the women who are undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospitals at Jubilee Hills after they suffered severe infection following sterilization surgery at Community Health Centre, Ibrahimpatnam on August 25.

Sanjay demanded that the government pay an ex gratia of Rs 1 crore each to the families of the deceased, besides granting them houses and giving providing free education to their children.

“Similarly, those who are undergoing treatment after facing health complications due to botched surgeries should be paid Rs 10 lakh each” he said.

The BJP president also criticised CM KCR for not calling on the victim’s families.

“Instead, the chief minister chose to fly down to Bihar to distribute cheques to the families of Bhoiguda fire accident victims. For him, gaining publicity with such tricks is more important than poor women’s lives. He will have to pay the penalty for the same,” he said.
