Ensure Smooth Arrangements for Devotees: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar conducted a detailed review of the arrangements for the Bonalu festival during the auspicious month of Ashada. The festival is set to commence on July 7th, with significant celebrations scheduled for July 21st and 22nd, focusing on the Ujjaini Mahankali Temple in Secunderabad.

Preparations and Instructions

During the review meeting, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar emphasized the necessity of completing all arrangements by July 5th. He instructed officials to ensure all preparations were in place to avoid inconveniences to devotees. The minister also highlighted free bus services for devotees under the Mahalakshmi scheme and directed appropriate arrangements.

Festival Schedule

The Bonalu celebrations will begin on July 21st, with the main deity’s darshan, followed by the Rangam and Gajadhirohanam festivities at 9 AM the next day. The deity will be taken out in a grand procession on an elephant.

Historical Significance

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar shared that the tradition of offering Bonalu to the deity dates back to 1830 and urged the public to cooperate to ensure the festival’s success. He also noted that under the leadership of Minister Konda Surekha, ₹20 crores have been released for this year’s Bonalu festivities.

Logistical Arrangements

The minister outlined various logistical arrangements, including lighting around the temple, uninterrupted water supply, continuous power supply with additional transformers, and extensive security measures. Facilities such as water packets, water bottles, four health camps, special ambulances, fire engines, and welcome boards are also being arranged.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar concluded by expressing his hope that with the deity’s blessings, the Bonalu festival will be a grand success with the cooperation of the public and the coordinated efforts of all officials.
