A major accident occurred in northern central Nigeria on Friday morning when a two-story school building collapsed. The incident happened while classes were in session.
In this tragedy, 22 students lost their lives, and it is believed that more than 100 students are trapped under the debris. Relief and rescue teams have arrived at the scene to rescue the students trapped under the rubble.
Background of the School Building Collapse
The building that collapsed belongs to Saints Academy College in the Busa Buji community of the Pithbhumi state. The incident took place shortly after classes commenced. Many of the injured are reported to be children aged 15 years or younger.
Rescue Efforts
Police spokesperson Alfred Alabo reported that a total of 154 students were trapped under the debris, out of which 132 have been rescued. The students are receiving treatment in various hospitals.
