Pathanamthitta: Bus From AP With Sabarimala Pilgrims Meets With Accident, 20 Injured

Chennai: A bus with 44 Sabarimala pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh met with an accident near Laha in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. All the injured have been admitted to the hospital.

According to ANI, “A bus, carrying 44 Sabarimala pilgrims from Andhra, met with an accident near Laha in Pathanamthitta. All injured have been admitted to hospital.”“Three people, including an 8-yr-old boy, shifted to Kottayam Medical College hospital. Health min Veena George is at the spot,” it said.

The three persons including the eight-year-old boy are in critical condition. All of them have been shifted to Kottayam Medical College. Another 18 injured persons have been sent to the general hospital in Pathanamthitta. The remaining patients are admitted to the community health centre at Perinadu. 

The rescue operations were swiftly undertaken by the joint effort of police, fire personnel and motor vehicle department officials. The locals also helped the officials with the rescue operation.

Kerala Health Minister Veena George also made arrangements for the treatment of the pilgrims. 

Talking to PTI, Veena George said, necessary treatment has been ensured for all those who suffered injuries.

The annual Sabarimala pilgrimage season started in Kerala on Thursday. The pilgrims were allowed entry from Thursday 5 a.m. The current seasons will end on December 27 and the temple will once again reopen on December 30 for the second phase. The religious festivities of Sabarimala temple will conclude after ‘Makara Vilakku’ on January 14.
