Maharashtra Dy CM Fadnavis Orders Detailed Probe After Cyrus Mistry Dies In Road Accident

New Delhi: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who holds the home department, ordered the state police to conduct a detailed investigation into the road accident in which former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry was killed on Sunday, news agency PTI reported. Fadnavis said he was shocked and deeply pained to know about the death of Mistry, 54, in the unfortunate accident near Palghar adjoining Mumbai.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Fadnavis wrote, “Spoke to DGP and instructed for detailed investigations.”

“My deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues,” he said.

Notably, former Tata Group chairman and industrialist Cyrus Mistry died in a road accident in Palghar near Mumbai on Sunday. After the accident, Mistry was taken to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Two other persons travelling with him including the car driver were also injured and were rushed to a hospital in Gujarat.

According to PTI, police told that the accident happened around 3.15 pm when Mistry was going from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in a Mercedes car. The body of Mistry has been shifted to the Kasa Rural Hospital for postmortem.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his condolences and said Mistry’s passing away is a big loss to the world of commerce and industry.

“The untimely demise of Shri Cyrus Mistry is shocking. He was a promising business leader who believed in India’s economic prowess. His passing away is a big loss to the world of commerce and industry. Condolences to his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace,” PM Modi tweeted paying condolences to his family and friends.

Meanwhile, social media was flooded with messages of tributes to Mistry’s family and friends. Top political leaders and celebrities condoled the business tycoon’s death.
