New Delhi: All eyes are on the possible decision regarding the disqualification of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, and in the meantime, the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress alliance is going to meet Governor Ramesh Bais on Thursday evening, as reported by news agency PTI.
“The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s request letter to meet the governor has been received. The delegation has been given time to meet at 4 pm,” the source told PTI.
Recently the Election Commission had sent its recommendation to the Governor in the case of office of profit against Hemant Soren. In this, it was advised to cancel the assembly membership of Soren, but the governor has not yet taken any decision in this matter.
The Election Commission had on August 25 sent its opinion to the bench on a petition seeking disqualification by Soren as an MLA for violating electoral norms by allotting himself a mining lease. The petitioner BJP has sought the disqualification of Soren for violating Section 9A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. This act deals with ineligibility for government contracts.
