'From There, My Belief Grew More & More': Virat Kohli Recalls His 'Most Memorable Knock' Vs Pakistan In Asia Cup

India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2022: Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team is all set to start its Asia Cup 2022 campaign with a match against arch-nemesis Pakistan on Sunday in Dubai international cricket stadium. Former captain Virat Kohli will return to international cricket after almost a month’s break. Kohli has been facing heat recently due to his form but after a much-needed break, fans will now expect the Indian batting legend to deliver, especially ahead of T20 World Cup in Australia.

Virat Kohli has a great batting record in the Asia Cup 2022. He had played one of the best ODI knocks of his career about 10 years ago in Asia Cup 2012. The star batter played a match-winning 183-run inning (2 sixes and 22 fours) when India needed to chase 330 runs against Pakistan. To this day, Virat’s 183 against Pakistan is the highest individual score ever achieved by a batter in Asia Cup.

Recalling his innings in an interview with BCCI.tv, Virat Kohli said he was surprised at himself after the innings.

“The Asia Cup, for me, has always been memorable. Yes, the 183 definitely stands out for me personally because that was kind of a revelation for me. At 23, I could play at that level and in a big game – against Pakistan in a big chase. I kind of surprised myself, and from there, my belief grew more and more,” the former Indian skipper said.

In Ind vs Pak Asia Cup 2016 match, Virat scored 49 runs off 51 balls after India lost their first three wickets within 3 overs with just 8 runs on the board. During his interview with BCCI.tv, Kohli rated this innings as one of the most crucial knocks he has played in the Asia Cup. “The other game that was special for me, and I remember quite fondly, was against Pakistan in Bangladesh when I got 49-odd on a very tricky pitch. These are the kind of games that always stay in your memory,” Kohli added.
