Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu announced that if the Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanthi project is completed, every acre in the Uttarandhra region will receive irrigation water. He expressed hope that completing the project will lead to the overall development of the region, addressing not only irrigation but also drinking water issues for 2.80 lakh acres in Anakapalli district. During the TDP’s tenure, significant progress was made, but the previous government failed to advance the work, leaving it stagnant.
During his first visit to Uttarandhra as Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu inspected the Polavaram left canal at Darlapudi in Payakaraopeta constituency of Anakapalli district on Thursday. He reviewed a photo exhibition of the canal works and interacted with officials for detailed updates. Ministers, MPs, MLAs, party leaders, and district officials welcomed him, and he addressed the gathered public during the visit.
Responsibility to Repay People’s Trust
“We have the responsibility to repay those who voted for and supported us. Uttarandhra is a region that has shown immense support after the Godavari districts. I have come here to repay your trust. With the strength given by God, I will develop the state and repay your trust,” said Chief Minister Naidu. He emphasized the coalition of TDP, Jana Sena, and BJP working together and the people’s court punishing those who committed wrongdoings.
“We campaigned for the people’s victory, and now that the people have won, we will work hard to build the state. We have already released white papers on Polavaram, Amaravati, and the power sector. I have completed 72% of Polavaram. A malicious individual ruined the diaphragm wall by mixing it with the Godavari river, damaging the cofferdams. Though water was supposed to be released by June 2021, it was sabotaged. Polavaram is a boon for the state. By completing the Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanthi and bringing Godavari waters through Polavaram, we can ensure water for every acre, eliminating drought,” he stated.
Combating Drought through River Interlinking
“The right canal of the Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanthi needs to be completed up to 214 km. The first phase, which covers 93 km, requires an expenditure of ₹800 crores, ensuring water for one lakh acres in Anakapalli. We will invite tenders and commence work immediately. After preparing an action plan, we will speed up the completion. Through the right canal of Polavaram, irrigation water can be provided to 4 lakh acres in the combined East Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts. We will bring 2,500 cusecs of water to this region through the Purushottapatnam and Pushkar lift projects, ensuring every household receives water through pipelines,” he said.
Closure of Three Sugar Factories Due to Previous Government’s Inefficiency
“We promise justice to the sugar factory farmers in this region. Due to the inefficiency of the previous government, three sugar factories have shut down. We will ensure justice for these farmers, and the factories will run with their partnership. We will work hard to create wealth, increase income, and distribute it to the poor. The responsibility of providing facilities rests with the NDA government. The people of Andhra Pradesh have given an unprecedented victory to the NDA, winning candidates with a majority of 95,000 votes. It is our responsibility to repay this trust. We must think about the consequences of believing the lies of those who deceive,” he said.
Misleading Campaign about Visakha Steel Plant
“We are contemplating how to save the Visakha Steel Plant. However, a useless party is spreading lies. They dreamed that I agreed to sell it. Visakha Steel is the pride of Telugu people. We fought hard for it, and I prevented its privatization proposals. We even secured financial assistance from the Center. We will protect the steel plant, and the lies of those who spread falsehoods must be countered with facts,” Naidu emphasized.
People Must Remove the Specter of Jagan
“We will soon implement the Super-6 promises and stand by every family. Although only 30 days have passed, we have increased pensions from ₹3,000 to ₹4,000 as promised. We have also cleared three months of arrears by disbursing ₹7,000 at once. This is a historic event in the country. We approved filling 16,347 posts with the first signature on the DSC file. We also repealed the land-grabbing act brought to seize your lands. We will open 183 Anna Canteens from August 15. Past governments couldn’t tolerate providing food to the poor. While discussing with investors, they expressed concern about a ‘specter’ in our state. We assured them that the people would deal with it,” he remarked.
Officials Should Abandon Carpet Culture
“We aim to increase people’s income and are about to initiate skill enhancement programs for the youth. We are providing free sand, and people believed in the words of me, Pawan Kalyan, and Modi. We will make this state the number one in the country. We distributed pensions on the same day with the help of secretariat staff, whereas the previous government claimed it was impossible. We provided increased pensions and timely salaries to employees. The people showered us with love and welcomed us. The officials here laid carpets, but we are not kings. We came here to serve the people. This carpet culture must end. We all come from the soil and will return to the soil. We need no ostentation, only to bring change to people’s lives. Every penny will be spent for the people,” Chief Minister Naidu concluded.
