Amid the onslaught of rains in Kerala, India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a yellow alert to nine districts of the state. heavy rains are likely to lash hilly regions in the state predicted the weather body. Yellow alert sounded for Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kasargod and Kannur districts.
IMD has also forecasted a yellow alert for the next two days in 13 districts. Meanwhile, Three bodies were found after a landslide hit Kudayathoor village in Thodupuzha taluka of Idukki district earlier on Monday morning. Search operations are underway.

Those living in the hilly regions of the state are advised to take measures and exercise caution. Heavy rains or landslides might have triggered flash floods in Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Kannur districts on Saturday, said officials. Heavy rains battered the hilly areas of the Malappuram district.
Meanwhile, Olippuzha river is in spate following torrential rains in the Malappuram district. the river changed its course and submerged several villages, that are on its bank.
Earlier this month, heavy downpour wreaked havoc in Kerala bringing along landslips, flooding of dams and rivers, taking the rain-related death toll 22. CM Pinarayi Vijayan has asked the people living on the banks of water bodies to be extremely cautious. They have been asked to follow the directives of the district authorities and be prepared to move to relief camps if a need arises.
