A sub-inspector posted at Jeedimetla traffic police station under Cyberabad commissionerate came under fire after a video of him abusing and assaulting a truck driver went viral on social media platforms. The incident happened near Gandi Maisamma on Hyderabad Narsapur highway on Wednesday.
Incident Details
In the video, SI Yadagiri can be seen abusing the truck driver for not stopping the vehicle when asked to stop at the roadside, but instead stopping a little further in a no-parking zone. The traffic cop was also seen slapping the driver as he tried to explain. The SI was heard telling his subordinate to take the driver to the police station.
Disciplinary Action
The police have initiated disciplinary action against SI Yadagiri. The SI has been attached to the CP office. Reacting to the video, BRS working president KT Rama Rao took to ‘X’ platform and criticised the cop’s behaviour. KTR wrote, “What absolute garbage language is this @TelanganaDGP? Please remember that it is the citizens that pay the salaries of the police men & officials. My tweet is not just about one incident but I have been watching several videos where cops are behaving in an inappropriate manner with citizens. I hope you conduct sensitisation classes to change the behaviour of policemen.”
In response to the post, the Telangana police issued a statement on X: “Disciplinary action has been taken against the officer, who has since been transferred out of this station.”
Public Reaction
The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many people condemning the behaviour of the sub-inspector. There have been calls for stricter actions and sensitisation training for the police force to ensure such incidents do not happen in the future.
