Apple Watch Series 8 is now official. The Cupertino tech giant at its ‘Far Out’ event on Wednesday unveiled it next generation of wearables. The Apple Watch Series 8 has been launched alongside two more variants — the pocket-friendly Apple Watch SE (2022) and the rugged Apple Watch Ultra. The new Apple Watch Series 8 is swim proof, dust proof, and crack resistant, as per Apple COO Jeff Williams. It also comes with an inbuilt temperature sensor as well as a crash detection sensor for added user safety. The Apple Watch Ultra comes with a huge 49mm case, touted to be Apple’s biggest wearable display yet.
Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE (2022), Apple Watch Ultra price, colour options, availability
Apple Watch Series 8 has been launched in four color options — Midnight, Stalight, Silver, and Product (RED) — for the aluminum case. For the Stainless Steel model, the Apple Watch Series 8 is available in three colour options — Silver, Gold, and Graphite. The Series 8 starts at $399 for the GPS model, and $499 for the cellular model. As earlier, with each purchase of Apple Watch Series 8, you get three months of Fitness+ for free. Apple Watch Series 8 will be available starting September 16.
Apple Watch SE (2022) marks the second generation of Apple’s pocket-friendly wearable. It will be available in three colour options — Silver, Midnight, and Starlight. Apple Watch SE (2022) is priced at $249 for the GPS model, and $299 for cellular. They will be available starting September 16.
Apple Watch Ultra, on the other hand, will come with three different kinds of straps — Alpine loop band (no stitching), Ocean band (perfect for watersports and wetsuits), and Trail loop (increased elasticity). Apple Watch Ultra is priced at $799. You can order the Ultra model today, and shipping will start on September 23.

Although the Apple Watch Series 8 might look similar to the last-gen Series 7, but the new wearable lineup comes with a larger display (with Alway-On display) as well as a body temperature sensor, which can read wrist temperature of the user every five seconds overnight, to help record shifts from baseline temperature and alert users when needed via the Health app. The Series 8 features a heart-rate sensor as well as an ECG scanner as well. The rugged Apple Watch Ultra is marked by a massive 49mm titanium case and a new programmable Action button, which can offer instant access to Watch features and apps such as workouts, compass waypoints, and more. The new display is touted as the brightest Apple Watch display yet, with 2,000 nits of peak brightness — double the brightness of previous models.
The Ultra offers 36 hours of battery life on standard use, which can be amped up to 60 hours with the low-power mode.
It features three inbuilt microphones to help offer a better voice calling experience. The Apple Watch Ultra also comes with a Dark Mode as well as a Wayfinder watch face that shows an onscreen compass as well as offers eight slots to add complications of your choice.
Lastly, the Apple Watch Ultra features an inbuilt depth gauge, a dual-frequency GPS that can receive signals even in difficult locations.
