Fertilizers Readied for Kharif Season
The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a positive development for farmers by preparing fertilizers for the Kharif season. The state has set up fertilizers in 1,321 cooperative societies to ensure timely distribution. Minister of Agriculture K. Achchennaidu conducted a review meeting with officials to discuss the readiness for the Kharif season and issued directives to ensure full preparedness.
17.5 Lakh Metric Tons of Fertilizers
Minister Achchennaidu emphasized the need to prepare 17.5 lakh metric tons of fertilizers for this season. Currently, the state has 14 lakh metric tons of fertilizers in stock. The minister directed officials to ensure the remaining quantities arrive on time to meet the farmers’ requirements.
Steps to Prevent Adulteration
Achchennaidu has initiated measures to curb the sale of adulterated fertilizers. He also stressed the importance of issuing licenses to cooperative societies to facilitate the sale of fertilizers. The minister discussed the impact of heavy rainfall on agriculture and crop damage and the need for immediate measures to address these issues. Instructions were given to remove stagnant water from fields and guide farmers in preventing diseases caused by excess moisture.
Employment Guarantee Scheme and Water Conservation
Under the Employment Guarantee Scheme, Achchennaidu has ordered the desilting of crop canals and drains to ensure proper water supply. He also emphasized the need for water conservation measures to protect crops and support farmers during this season.
Focus on Polam Pilustondi Program
Achchennaidu has also focused on the “Polam Pilustondi” program, which will be launched across the state on July 23. As part of this initiative, farmers will be educated on scientific farming practices. The agriculture department will conduct soil tests in farmers’ fields and, based on the test results, provide recommendations on the appropriate fertilizers to use.
The state is making significant efforts to support farmers during the Kharif season, ensuring the availability of necessary resources and guidance to improve agricultural productivity.
