The Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Revanth Reddy, has instructed officials to collect detailed information on the eligible poor residing in encroached lakes, water bodies, and the Musi River catchment areas in Hyderabad. This decision is part of the government’s effort to protect lakes and simultaneously reassure the deserving poor. The Chief Minister emphasized, “No eligible poor family should be left homeless,” and directed the authorities to allocate double-bedroom houses or offer alternative solutions to those affected.
Critical Instructions for Lake Protection
The Chief Minister focused on protecting lakes and ponds within the Outer Ring Road. He stressed the importance of preserving these water bodies to prevent natural disasters and safeguard future needs. The CM issued strict orders to prevent further encroachments on lakes and water channels.
“Install CCTV cameras near all lakes and link them to the Command Control Center,” said the Chief Minister, emphasizing the importance of close monitoring to protect the lakes from illegal encroachments.
Identification of FTL and Buffer Zones
The Chief Minister also directed officials to identify the Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zones of all lakes and water bodies within the Outer Ring Road. Based on this, a comprehensive report should be prepared, and immediate action should be taken to secure these areas.
Reassurance for the Eligible Poor
The CM assured the eligible poor residing in these encroached areas that they would not be displaced without proper alternatives. He instructed officials to ensure that “the genuine poor do not suffer due to the government’s efforts” and to provide suitable housing options, such as double-bedroom houses.
Review of Musi Riverfront and Metro Expansion
At his residence in Jubilee Hills, CM Revanth Reddy also reviewed the Musi Riverfront Development Project along with key officials. Additionally, he discussed various aspects related to the expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail.
“The full report on the metro line from the airport to Future City should be prepared immediately,” directed the Chief Minister. He also instructed officials to speed up the Old City Metro expansion.
The CM urged the officials to complete the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the metro expansion routes and submit it to the central government by the Dussehra festival.
Clear Orders on Land Acquisition
The Chief Minister highlighted the need to resolve any hurdles related to metro routes in land acquisition. He specifically mentioned that officials should focus on resolving these issues immediately. Additionally, several topics related to the metro expansion from LB Nagar to Hayathnagar and from MGBS to Chandrayangutta were discussed during the meeting.
These initiatives reflect the government’s dual focus on protecting lakes and water bodies from encroachments while ensuring that the eligible poor are provided with alternative housing solutions.
