Telangana: Early this morning, a fierce encounter took place between the police and Maoists at the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border, causing widespread alarm in the region.
Police-Maoist Encounter at Telangana Border
In the encounter, one Maoist was reportedly killed. The incident has caused significant concern in the border area, with local authorities on high alert. Mulugu District SP Shabarish provided details of the encounter.
Details of the Encounter
The police were patrolling the forest area near the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border around 7:00 AM. As they approached the Urava Sari Gutta near Seema Doddi village, around 20 heavily armed Maoists wearing olive green uniforms opened fire on the police.
Despite appeals from the police to cease fire and surrender, the Maoists continued their assault. In self-defence, the police returned fire. The intense exchange lasted for over 15 minutes. Once the firing from the Maoists ceased, the police searched the area and discovered a Maoist dead with gunshot wounds.
Seizures from the Encounter Site
From the encounter site, the police seized a 9 mm carbine rifle, ammunition, explosives, detonators, Maoist literature, kit bags, and various daily-use items. The recovery of these items indicates the preparedness and intentions of the Maoists in the region.
