Honorable Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu held a virtual meeting with representatives of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Thursday, discussing the state’s resources and opportunities. He emphasized the importance of investments in Andhra Pradesh and assured government support. The Chief Minister reiterated his goal of creating a poverty-free society and highlighted the need for industry reforms, even if they come at a political cost.
Request for CII to Partner in the P4 Model
During the meeting, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu addressed the CII representatives, saying, “It is a pleasure to meet you. I am serving as Chief Minister for the fourth time. When I first became Chief Minister in 1995, CII was a small organization. Now, it is a major institution with a global influence. Back then, we used to hold the CII conference every year under challenging conditions with limited infrastructure.”
CII Meeting in Visakhapatnam Again This Year
“Let us meet again this year. There will be no delays. We will accomplish everything on time. The next meeting will be in the dynamic city of Visakhapatnam. I invite every National Council member. We have secured a majority in both the Parliament and the Assembly,” announced the Chief Minister.
Visakhapatnam to Be Developed as a FinTech Hub
“In the past, we developed Visakhapatnam as a FinTech hub. We will take inspiration from London and Singapore to further enhance Visakhapatnam’s FinTech capabilities. We will consider what incentives to offer and provide better opportunities for industries,” he emphasized.
Striving for a Poverty-Free Society
“I strongly believe in public policies. With the advent of artificial intelligence, welfare should aim to eradicate poverty. Let’s do something to eliminate poverty. Today, in your presence, I am introducing the Public, Private, People Partnership (P4) policy. Everyone is working well. ‘People’ means capital, and everything else is an addition to capital,” he explained.
Skill Development for Global Employment Opportunities
“We are focusing on skill development and global employment opportunities. We are ready to provide the necessary skills to the youth of our state, enabling them to secure stable economic opportunities. For this, we have undertaken skill development initiatives,” he said.
Reforms Benefit People Despite Political Costs
“The power sector reforms implemented in 1998 had a personal political cost, but they led to Hyderabad becoming a proud global city today. It gave me a good reputation and satisfaction. In 1995, I introduced information technology, which resulted in the establishment of many engineering colleges. Millions of engineering students have emerged. I always told everyone to aspire not just for jobs but to create jobs,” he stated.
Ensuring Better Incentives for Industries in the State’s Reconstruction
“Industrialists should come with good ideas, and we will work together. If you come up with ideas, we are ready to implement them. We previously developed Visakhapatnam as a FinTech hub, and we will model it after London and Singapore to make it even better,” he assured.
The Chief Minister responded to the CII representatives’ proposal to establish a CII university center in Amaravati by stating, “You initiate the second CII university in Amaravati, and we will allocate the necessary land. Come with innovative ideas, and we are ready to implement them. Amaravati will be transformed into a magnificent city with everyone’s cooperation.”
