PaperDabba News Desk – June 29, 2024: Rajahmundry Rural MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary today inaugurated the Old Venkatapuram Pumping Scheme, releasing water for Kharif crops, bringing great relief to farmers.
Inauguration of the Pumping Scheme
Rajahmundry Rural MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary switched on the pumps at the Old Venkatapuram Pumping Scheme, providing much-needed support to farmers struggling for water supply. This initiative is expected to benefit approximately 2000 acres of agricultural land in Venkatapuram, Katheuru, Kontamuru, and Thorredu villages.
Water Supply for Kharif Crops
Buchaiah emphasized the importance of water released from this pumping scheme for the upcoming Kharif season. The MLA conducted a review meeting with the irrigation department officials, directing them to assess the need for renovating the pump house substation and canals related to this scheme.
Continuous Electricity Supply
The MLA requested electricity department officials to ensure a 24-hour power supply to this pumping scheme. He emphasized the need for officials to be prepared to provide timely water supply to the crops.
Resolving Public Issues in Thorredu
Visiting TIDCO houses in Thorredu village, the MLA inquired about the difficulties faced by the residents. Locals expressed concerns about nighttime disturbances caused by gangs and poor sanitation. The MLA immediately spoke with police officials to arrange night patrolling and instructed action on sanitation issues.
