Stock market live updates: The key benchmark indices moved in a narrow band in trades on Wednesday, as investors preferred to stay on sidelines ahead of the US Fed policy outcome later tonight.
The BSE Sensex was flat around 54,700, after having touched a high of 54,820 and a low of 54,538. The NSE Nifty stood closer to 15,740-odd level.
The broader markets, however, were outperforming the benchmark indices, the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices were up over 0.5 per cent each.
Sectorally, the BSE Auto and Capital Goods indices were the top performers, while most of the other indices languished around their previous close.
Among stocks, Shriram City Union Finance gained 1 per cent. The company plans to raise up to Rs 300 crore via debt securities on a private placement basis.
TV18 broadcast also rose over a per cent after Viacom 18 bagged the digital rights for IPL.
