Stock market live updates: The key benchmark indices held marginal losses in noon deals as Asian Paints and IT stocks witnessed selling pressure. Private banking stocks, however, traded with firm gains.
The BSE Sensex was down 100-odd points at 53,940-odd level, while the NSE Nifty50 had slipped below the 16,100 level.
Asian Paints tanked 6 per cent. IT majors – Tech Mahindra, TCS, Wipro and and HCL Technologies were down 2-4 per cent each. On the positive side, Kotak Bank, Nestle, ICICI Bank, HDFC and NTPC were up 1-2 per cent each.
The broader markets were down with steeper losses. The BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices pared gains and fell 1.2 per cent and 1.8 per cent, respectively.
As of 12 noon, Aether Industries IPO was subscribed up to 39 per cent on Day 2 of the offer period.
