Among the Sensex-30 shares, Ultratech Cement, Bharti Airtel, Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, Maruti, Power Grid, HDFC, NTPC, and IndusInd Bank were the top gainers, up to 2 per cent higher.
Infosys, RIL, Tata Steel, ONGC, Hindalco and JSW Steel, meanwhile, were the top laggards across the two benchmarks.
In the broader markets, the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices also turned tepid, inching lower up to 0.46 per cent.
Sectorally, Nifty Auto, FMCG, Media and PSB indices led gains, up to 1 per cent. On the other hand, Nifty IT, Metals and energy packs were in the red.
Among stocks, GNFC rose 6 per cent. The company’s Q4 net profit more-than-doubled to Rs 643.26 crore in the quarter ended March 2022 when compared with Rs 308.91 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.
PVR also gained 4 per cent as the multiplex chain operator reported narrowing of its consolidated net loss to Rs 105.49 crore for the fourth quarter ended in March 2022 when compared with a net loss of Rs 289.21 crore in the January-March quarter a year ago.
The new debutant at bourses, Rainbow Children’s Medicare (RCML), a multi-speciality pediatric hospital chain, made a weak stock market debut as its shares listed at Rs 506, a 7 per cent discount when compared to its issue price of Rs 542 per share on the BSE on Tuesday. READ MORE HERE
Meanwhile, after the mega LIC IPO closed yesterday, primary markets were abuzz with the opening of Prudent Corporate Advisory Services issue. With price band between Rs 595-630 per share, the issue was subscribed 19 per cent on Day 1.
