MARKET LIVE: Sensex gains 300pts, Nifty near 16,400; HUL, HDFC twins lead

Stock market live updates: After swinging between zones in the early morning deals, the key benchmark indices were seen firming up in the noon trades. The BSE Sensex was up around 300 points, while the NSE Nifty added 75-odd points.

Among the Sensex-30 shares, Ultratech Cement, Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, Maruti and IndusInd Bank were the major gainers, up over 2 per cent each. The HDFC twins too were seen moving up smartly. On the flip side, Sun Pharma and Tata Steel shed nearly 3 per cent each.

The broader markets however traded with a negative bias. The BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices were down 0.8 per cent and 0.3 per cent, respectively. Among sectors, the Power index was down nearly 2 per cent.

Among other stocks, GNFC zoomed up to 11 per cent after the company’s Q4 net profit more-than-doubled to Rs 643.26 crore. PVR also gained 4 per cent as the multiplex chain operator reported narrowing of its consolidated net loss to Rs 105.49 crore.

Debutant Rainbow Children’s Medicare (RCML), a multi-speciality pediatric hospital chain, started trade on a weak note, down 7 per cent compared to its issue price. READ MORE HERE

Meanwhile, in the primary market, Prudent Corporate Advisory Services issue was subscribed up to 26 per cent as of 12:20 PM.
