North Queensland police are investigating after a 20-year-old was allegedly stabbed to death late on Sunday night.
Police say the Ingham man was walking with two women along sat 11.30pm when the group was approached by another man.
It’s alleged a fight broke out between the two men that culminated in the younger man being stabbed in the stomach.
Police provided first aid at the scene before the 20-year-old was taken to Ingham Hospital in a critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 12.40am.
Nick Dametto, the Hinchinbrook MP, took to Facebook to urge anyone who might have information to come forward.
“On behalf of Hinchinbrook, I wish to offer my deepest condolences to the family of the young man whose life was taken after an incident last night in Ingham,” he wrote on Monday morning.
“While the exact details of this tragedy are yet to be determined, I know police are doing everything in their power to ensure the person responsible for this horrific crime is brought to justice.”
