A Brit couple who sneaked a woman into their Barbados hotel – allegedly for sex – have been slammed for nearly causing a COVID disaster.

Andrew Luker and Julia Knightley were fined $6,977 after being caught out when security guards spotted the woman scaling the hotel wall at midnight, The Sun reports.

Cops were called two hours later when a security guard found Jamaican Mikaela Jacas with the couple on their patio of the Colony Club Hotel, Porters, in St James.

Knightley, 42, a beautician and qualified nurse from Cheadle Hulme, Manchester and 46-year-old crane engineer Luker from Rochdale, Greater Manchester, both pleaded guilty.

The pair appeared at Magistrates Court in St Thomas before Chief Magistrate Ian Weeks – who spared Zara Holland jail for breaching COVID regulations.

Passing sentence Chief Magistrate Weeks pointed out that Jacas lives among the general population, Loop News Barbados reports.

He said the couple could have led to a disaster on the island had they infected her and was baffled by their actions on December 30.

They were each fined $3,843 and freed on $12,229 bail but warned they would be jailed for nine months if they didn’t pay within seven days, the Royal Barbados Police said.

The pair arrived in Barbados on December 28, as soaring cases of the mutant strain of COVID led to stricter lockdown measures.

There have been just seven deaths on the island of 287,000 people – all of them back in April – though there has been a recent spike in cases.

Ms Knightley said ignorance of the law was no excuse for their actions.

She admitting to knowing they could not leave the hotel while awaiting test results – but claimed she didn’t know they couldn’t invite guests to their room.

Mr Luker said he regretted what had happened, adding: “Beyond that there is nothing to say besides to apologise.”

Knightley made national news headlines several years ago when she used provocative images of herself in revealing underwear to promote her cosmetic clinic.

The couple arrived on the island on December 28 and are scheduled to leave on January 9.

It comes after Love Island star Zara Holland, 25, was slapped with a £4,500 fine after trying to flee Barbados with partner Elliott Love after he tested positive for coronavirus.
