One man has died and a woman is in a critical condition after the car they were driving in rolled and caught on fire in South Australia’s southeast.
The man was sitting in the passenger seat when the Holden Jackaroo 4WD – travelling along the Riddoch Highway about 5km south of Willalooka – left the road.
The incident occurred just after 10.30pm on Thursday, but sadly the man died at the scene.
The 45-year-old female driver was flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical condition.
Major crash investigators attended and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The Riddoch Highway was closed to all traffic around the crash site for several hours but was reopened at about 9am when the road was cleared.
The man’s death brings the state’s road toll to 87 compared with 101 at the same time last year.
