A child has died in hospital after he was found unconscious at the bottom of a popular swimming spot in the Blue Mountains on Sunday afternoon.

The seven-year-old boy’s parents called emergency services at about 2.20pm after he was reported missing for almost 30 minutes at the Blue Mountains National Park at Glenbrook.

He was pulled from the water at the Jellybean Pool at 2.45pm by family and CPR was conducted by officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command, the Dog Unit and Rescue Squad.

He was then rushed to Nepean Hospital in a critical condition but died soon after arriving. NSW Police said a report will be prepared for the coroner.
