Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over the eight-race card at The Valley on Friday evening.
COOLTH (Race 7 No. 15 – $3.80)
Coolth is a lightly raced but promising four-year-old that scored impressive wins over 1600m at his first two runs last time in. His two runs behind Persan in winter shape as great form for Friday’s Benchmark 70 race.
SHOW SOME DECORUM (Race 1 No. 3 – $4.40)
The Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained colt has been consistent in two runs this time in and looks ready to break through at The Valley. He’ll roll forward to be in the firing line throughout and looks a decent bet to start the meeting.
CHROME ANGEL (Race 2, No. 9 – $4.60)
Chrome Angel showed her customary pace when resuming at The Valley but was only nabbed late after fading in the last few bounds. She’ll be much fitter for her first-up run and should be harder to run down.
CRIMSON ACE (Race 6 No. 2 – $3.30)
Crimson Ace wasn’t far away behind quality mares West Wind and subsequent Group 2 winner Affair To Remember over this trip last time out. She’s back to Benchmark 70 level, which will be perfect for her, on Friday.
UNICORNY (Race 8, No. 12 – $14)
Unicorny is at double figure odds in an even finale to The Valley meeting, probably because she’s yet to win over 1200m. However, those runs were 18 months ago and she’ll be stronger now. Expecting Jamie Mott to give her the perfect ride.
A couple of early scratchings have cut Damien Oliver’s book to four rides but the market expects most of the champion jockey’s mounts to fight out the finish at The Valley.
ILOVETHEGAME (Race 1 No. 1, $4.60), BUTTON EXPRESS (Race 2 No. 4, $6), TRIGGER POINT (Race 6 No. 5, $19), HELAVABEL (Race 8, No. 9 $3.60).
