Police are on the hunt for a man accused of spitting on another man in Melbourne’s CBD last month during the coronavirus pandemic.

CCTV shows a 32-year-old man standing at the corner of Collins and Spring streets using his phone about 1pm on September 9.

The footage then shows the moment another man walks past him before turning around and spitting in his face and fleeing.

The saliva hit the victim on the cheek and temple, police said.

Officers are now on the hunt for the spitter and have released a description of his very unusual outfit choice – two pairs of pants.

He is described as caucasian in appearance, between 40 and 50 years old and of a thin build.

The accused was wearing a red hoodie and two pairs of pants, police said.

His footwear was thongs.

Police believe the man pictured in the CCTV footage can help them with their inquiries.
