He was only appointed on a permanent basis in July, but Jean-Paul de Marigny has already left the Wanderers.

Western Sydney Wanderers have parted ways with Jean-Paul de Marigny just five games after appointing him as the A-League club’s head coach.

The Wanderers’ announcement on Monday came as a shock, with de Marigny having been given the job on a permanent basis in July after initially being interim coach following the axing of German coach Markus Babbel in January.

The Wanderers missed the top six in the recently completed 2019-20 season, finishing in ninth spot with after winning nine of their 26 matches.

“Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today parted ways with head coach Jean-Paul de Marigny,” the club said in a statement.

“The club thanks Jean-Paul for his efforts and wishes him success in the future.

“The club will make an announcement in the coming days on a replacement coach.”

The Wanderers are expected to start training this month ahead of the new season, which is set to start in late December or January.
