Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald has nothing to do with your NFL team losing but he won’t back down if you come at him with your hot takes.
The former AFL star turned radio host had the perfect comeback to an angry Miami fan who attacked him on Twitter after being mistaken for Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
New England beat Miami 21-11 in their season-opener today and at least one Dolphins fanatic wasn’t impressed with the team’s play-caller.
Accidentally tagging Fitzgerald on social media, the furious supporter wrote: “@FitzySA Fitzgerald you suck!!! You need to be on the bench!!!! Old a** … SCARED OF GETTING HIT A**!!!
“Wtf???!!?? Guaranteed to throw a pick a**!!!”
He could have let that slide through to the keeper but our man Fitzy came up with the goods by choosing to reply.
“F*** you Julie, I give my everything for Miami, football is my life,” he wrote.
“You don’t know how hard it is carrying all that pressure for the team, plus those line backers want to inflict pain and that can really hurt.”
The interaction hit the mark with Channel 9 NRL presenter Erin Molan, who replied: “This could be my tweet of the year (or just day).”
Adelaide star Tom Doedee was also on board, tweeting: “The best tradition in the NFL is back! Elite response as per (usual) @FitzySA.”
Fitzgerald has become accustomed to getting mixed up with Fitzpatrick. Earlier this year the ex-Swans and Crows forward had some fun with an opportunistic American looking to offload some prime real estate to Fitzpatrick.
“Hi Ryan. My name is Michael Gomes,” the man’s Instagram DM read.
“I am messaging you because I personally own a custom built home on Fiesta Way in the Nurmi Isles of Fort Lauderdale that I am looking to sell. I was wondering if you are in the market for a beautiful custom built home with a pool and a 95ft concrete dock. Hope all is well and hope to see you and the team back on the field soon.”
After reeling the seller in by asking for the price, Fitzgerald then dropped the hammer with some classic lines from famous Aussie film The Castle.
“How’s the serenity?” Fitzy asked before saying: “Tell him he’s dreamin!”
