A man in his 70s has drowned at Redleaf ocean pool in Double Bay, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Emergency services were called to the scene on New South Head Rd just before 1pm on Thursday to reports a man had been pulled unconscious from the water.

Five ambulance crews, a rescue helicopter and police raced to the scene and began CPR in a desperate attempt to save the man.

Unfortunately, he could not be revived, and died at the scene.

Photographs taken at the water show a massive crowd of health professionals desperately working to save the man, as police rope off the area.

Officers from Eastern Suburbs Local Area Command will prepare a report for the coroner.
