A man is behind bars in Florida accused of killing his mother when an argument escalated over a car, orange juice and airconditioning.
Luis Martin Pages has been charged with second-degree murder after he allegedly shot his mother six times in her North Miami Beach home on Sunday.
A police report states he called 911 after he “lost it”.
The 29-year-old allegedly told detectives “I killed her” and “take me to jail” when they arrived at the scene of the shooting, according to WSVN 7News.
The woman, identified as 59-year-old Miriam Gonzalez, was pronounced dead in her home.
Mr Pages reportedly told police he had asked to borrow his mother’s car to look for jobs on Monday but she refused because it was Labor Day.
The arrest paper states the argument continued to escalate.
According to NBC 6, it was over the car, an orange juice jar in the fridge and the airconditioning remote controls.
Mr Pages allegedly told police his mother had threatened him with a knife.
He then asked her for the air conditioner remote control and when she did not hand it over, he shot her multiple times, the arrest report states.
He was given no bond when he faced court on Monday and is being held at the Miami-Dade Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Centre.
