A Queensland woman has been charged after two young children were allegedly abducted from a home in Ipswich on Saturday afternoon.

Queensland Police issued an amber alert after a seven-year-old girl and a six-year-old boy were allegedly taken by a woman known to them from a home in Redbank Plains, Ipswich just before 4pm.

Police “held serious concerns for the safety of the children”.

“Information led officers to an Alexandra Hills address where the woman and two children were located. The woman was taken into custody without incident,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

The 26-year-old Fortitude Valley woman has been charged with two counts each of child stealing and removing a child from carer.

She has been refused police bail to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 7.

Investigations are continuing.
