A man has fallen to his death while canyoning in the Wollemi National Park in NSW’s Blue Mountains.
The 65-year-old was abseiling down a canyon in the Wolgan Valley, about 30km from Lithgow, when he reportedly fell onto the rocks below.
The incident occurred at about 2.30pm on Wednesday.
Friends of the man attempted to give him CPR and first aid while waiting for emergency crews to arrive.
“NSW Police Rescue, the Special Operations Team from NSW Ambulance and the Toll Rescue Helicopter attended,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“Despite efforts to revive the man, he died at the scene.”
Crews recovered his body from the scene today.
Inquiries are continuing and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
