A female prison worker has been arrested and charged over having an alleged inappropriate romantic relationship with a former male inmate at a correctional centre in the NSW Hunter region.
Detectives launched an investigation in June that led to the arrest of a 52-year-old woman at a Muswellbrook home on Thursday.
It’s alleged the woman, who is a service and programs officer for Corrective Services NSW, started a romantic relationship with a 56-year-old man while he was an inmate at the facility.
She was taken to the local police station and charged with engaging in a relationship with inmate causing a safety risk and engaging in sexual conduct compromising sentence.
The accused was granted strict conditional bail and will appear at Muswellbrook Local Court on September 21.
She has also been suspended from work.
