Two children have tragically died after a house caught fire in NSW’s south west this morning.
Police were called to a home on Mayday Road, Batlow, just after 11am following reports of a house fire.
Three-year-old twin girls, believed to have lived in the home, were pulled from the house by firefighters.
Despite efforts to save them the two girls died at the scene.
A woman and another child, aged five, who also lived in the house, were outside the home at the time of the fire.
Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze and police established a crime scene.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and inquiries have commenced into the circumstances surrounding the blaze.
Local detectives are being assisted by the State Crime Command’s Financial Crimes Squad’s Arson Unit.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
More to come.
