Here is my top 10 list of the best practical self-help podcasts.
1. MUMS WITH HUSTLE PODCAST
Presented by Aussie mumpreneur Tracy Harris, this podcast helps working mothers learn how to create an online business, small business or blog. If you’re looking to turn a hobby into a money maker or start earning a supplementary income through your very own business, this is an educational and entertaining listen.
2. YOU BEAUTY
Australians Leigh Campbell and Kelly McCarren are your resident beauty gurus in this lively and rambunctious podcast which aims to demystify all things make-up. From talking latest beauty trends to explaining what to do with all the products on shelves and which you actually need to buy, it combines practicality and fun.
3. THE AUSTRALIAN FINANCE PODCAST
Billing itself as a crash course in sorting out your finances, Owen Rask and Kate Campbell’s explain financial news during COVID-19, offer a coronavirus financial checklist to work through and talk you through the pros and cons of early access to $10,000 of super and Job Keeper. The series also walks listeners through basics such as banking and budgeting, debt and building an emergency cash balance.
4. EAT REAL UNWRAPPED

6. MOM AND DAD ARE FIGHTING
Struggling spending day after day locked up with your little cherubs? Hosts Dan Kois and Jamilah Lemieux are not child rearing experts, but they are a pair of relatable parents (and journalists) who share their triumphs and fails in parenting.
Recently, they have been airing stories and strategies about taking care of and educating kids (ranging from toddlers to teens) while working from home. Author and Netflix chef Samin Nosrat launched this podcast in response to lockdown.
Even if you usually have no interest in being in the kitchen, she is super entertaining and provides plenty of witty banter with co-host American musician and podcaster Hrishikesh Hirway. Together, the pair answers questions from listeners on how to transform pantry staples into delicious dishes. It’s perfect for anyone who’s been hoarding loads of tins.
9. FINDER POCKET MONEY PODCAST: HOW WILL THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC AFFECT OUR FINANCES?
Covering topics such as “How to recession-proof your finances during COVID-19” and “Curveballs – how to stay resilient when the going gets tough”, this Australian podcast is intended to provide you with tips, tools and strategies that will help you make better decisions. Hosts Kate Browne and Sally McMullen follow all the coronavirus coverage and tell you how you can get financial help during the pandemic. It covers everything from what you should do with your super, to the economic stimulus and how to handle your personal finances.

Don’t let your style standards slip just because you’re stuck at home. The Style Success Podcast is a show hosted by US personal stylist Mallory Sills who aims to help women increase confidence, credibility and develop their own personal style. Tune in to learn Mallory’s unique insight on the style and beauty world as she shares her knowledge and passion. The latest episode features her top picks for loungewear. 11. THE KIDS ARE ALL … HOME
The perfect solution for bored kids, this is a podcast for kids with nothing to do … by kids with nothing to do. Created by New York’s Pineapple Street Studios to help children stuck at home because of COVID-19 school closures, it features loads of entertaining podcasts from kids all over the world. Children offer their tips on how to stay safe, the activities they’re occupying themselves with and even snack ideas. There’s also opportunity for your own kids to make their own podcast for the show. It’s TikTok meets Sesame Street.
