Did you notice this major ‘The Avengers’ throwback in Captain Marvel trailer 2?

Fans have been waiting with bated breath for the Avengers 4 trailer which is most expected to be launched today. This week, Captain Marvel makers dropped another trailer of the Brie Larson starrer, which did make a lot of noise on social media among the dedicated Marvel fans. From the two trailers, we know that Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) is a human turned Kree and engages in a war with shapeshifting alien species known as Skrulls. She also traces back her time spent on Earth, with the battle making its way to our Planet Blue. In short, the trailer gave an insight to fans about the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the era of 90s.

Now, fans are curious to know how Captain Marvel will set the events in motion that play an important part in shaping up the movies that we’ve already seen and loved. Amid this curiosity and adrenaline rush, did you notice a major The Avengers throwback in Captain Marvel trailer 2? There is a connection to The Avengers that explain the war between Kree and Skrulls.

In the second part of the Captain Marvel trailer, Carol Danvers and Nick Fury are flying a white quinjet out of a S.H.I.E.L.D base or at least it looks like that. In one of those shots, if you pause and look carefully, you can see a Project Pegasus logo on the wing. It is the codename for the project during which the S.H.I.E.L.D was researching the Tessaract, a mysterious item they possessed years later after Captain America dived into the sea with it in Captain America: The First Avenger. The Tesseract is also seen in The Avengers when Loki comes into possession of the ancient artefact to annihilate the whole world.

The base in The Avengers where Loki steals the Tesseract was located in the Mojave desert. It is not so far from Los Angeles where Captain Marvel is supposed to be based at. According to Slashfilm, the sighting of Project Pegasus is not just a throwaway Easter egg, in fact, the S.H.I.E.L.D base plays a major part in the upcoming film. It is speculated that the Tesseract might be the item which Skrulls desire for (since one of the Infinity Stones is rested inside it). There is also a probability that the Kree are using Captain Marvel to get hold of Tesseract for themselves.

To uncover what’s true and what’s just speculation, we’ve to watch Captain Marvel which is releasing worldwide on March 8, 2018.
