An Indian army jawan was martyred on Saturday when Pakistan violated ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sunderbani sector.

The ceasefire violation happened at 9:45 am today.

The Army jawan suffered injuries in the unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops, but succumbed later.

Earlier in the day, two terrorists were killed by security forces in Pulwama district.

In the wee hours, police and security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Tikken area based on credible inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.

As the search operation was going on, hiding terrorists fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter.

In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. Their identities are being ascertained.

Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. Police has registered a case and initiated investigation in the instant matter.
