Thugs of Hindostan Box Office Collection Day 1: This Aamir Khan film rakes in massive numbers, earns Rs 52 crore

Aamir Khan’s much-anticipated film Thugs of Hindostan, despite opening to tepid reviews by audience, did an enormous business on its opening day. On day 1, the Amitabh Bachchan starrer raked in Rs 52 crores, making it the highest opening film of 2018, hands down. Also starring Fatima Sana Shaikh in a pivotal role, Thugs of Hindostan was Aamir Khan’s Diwali offering to his fans. However, the reviews were lukewarm as compared to the hype created ever since its inception. However, the box office numbers have a whole new story to tell that a large number of people did flock to the theatres to watch their Mr Perfectionist and Big B together on the silverscreen.

Thugs of Hindostan: After negative reviews, Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan’s film leaked online

Sharing the box office numbers for Thugs of Hindostan, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, “H-I-S-T-O-R-I-C *Day 1 biz* was expected, but the real test for #ThugsOfHindostan begins from *today onwards*… Will have to maintain the pace over the weekend [Fri to Sun] and *also on weekdays* to put up a MASSIVE TOTAL… Wait and watch situation right now!”

The word of mouth, which is mostly negative, is a major factor in determining Thugs of Hindostan’s fate which was made on a gargantuan budget of over Rs 300 crore. This Aamir Khan is second costliest film in India after Rajinikanth’s 2.0. The coming few days are going to be the crucial for the film to see if this Vijay Krishna Acharya-directorial manages to recover its cost.

Thugs of Hindostan has surpassed Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju in terms of opening day box office collection. Sanju opened to massive numbers of Rs 34 crore on its day 1, however, TOH is far ahead of this Rajkumar Hirani film in terms of BO.

The top five highest openers of 2018 are, Thugs of Hindostan (Rs 52.25 crore), Sanju (Rs 34.75 crore), Race 3 (Rs 29.17 crore), Gold (Rs 25.25 crore) and Baaghi 2 (Rs 25.10 crore).
