Diwali is the time when you can experiment with your sartorial choices. While going for a complete traditional look might top your list, there’s no harm in giving a quirky and contemporary twist to your ethnic attire. For stunning outfit inspirations, what better way than to take a leaf out of the lookbooks of the Bollywood actors?

Here are a few celeb-inspired ways to get all decked up this festive season.

Dia Mirza cut out a pretty picture in a Rashi Kapoor, orange-coloured, handwoven Banarasi kurta teamed with an embroidered Banarasi dupatta. She kept her accessories minimal and went for statement earrings. Shimmery eyes and half-tied hairdo rounded off her look beautifully.

Kriti Sanon was recently spotted spending her Diwali clad in an embroidered, violet sharara that looked lovely on her. Keeping her accessorises minimal with chandbaalis from Nayirah and Needle Dust jootis, the actor opted for a neutral make-up palette.

Aditi Rao Hydari was seen in an ivory-hued Tarun Tahiliani ensemble and needless to say, she looked amazing. The kalidar chikankari and mukaish anarkali was paired with a hand embroidered, sheer dupatta. Stylist Sanam Ratansi completed her look by teaming it with statement jhumkas and a bindi.

Esha Gupta’s ruffled peach sari teamed with an embellished blouse is a beautiful blend of ethnic and contemporary wear. Accessoring her outfit with statement jhumkas and a matching bracelet, she rounded off her look with a nude make-up palette.

Gauahar Khan was seen in a Nirmooha by Prreeti Jaiin Nainutia creation. The outfit, from the designer’s Rivaayat collection, was a beautiful blend of contemporary and traditional fashion. It included a grey linen sari teamed with a quirky, hand-painted, flared blouse. She accessorised her outfit with a set of gold jewellery set that complemented her look well.

Fatima Sana Sheikh looked breathtakingly beautiful in a handwoven hot pink sari from Bageecha’s Autumn/Winter’18 collection. Stylist Ami Patel teamed the embroidered sari with a sleeveless golden blouse and accessorised with golden chaandbalis that accentuated her outfit very well.

Parineeti Chopra was seen donning a colour blocked black tie and dye, mirror-encrusted floor length anarkali set from Akanksha Gajria. Keeping her accessories minimal, her look was rounded off with well-defined eyes and hair styled in a crown-braid.

Shilpa Shetty looked gorgeous in a signature heavily embellished Falguni Shane Peacock sari. Styled by Sanjana Batra, the sari was teamed with a matching beaded blouse.

Sonam Kapoor opted for a lovely mustard yellow kota jamdani outfit by Gaurang Shah. The heavily embroidered number was teamed with a matching dupatta with red border, and she looked gorgeous in it. Styled by Rhea Kapoor, the ensemble was accessorised with heavy gold statement jhumkas. We love the fishtail braid and also heart the pair of juttis she completed her look with.

Diana Penty caught our eye as she looked ravishing in a black pleated chiffon pant sari from the label Qbik. Styled by Namita Alexander, the actor was a sight to behold in that outfit and we loved the embroidered belt detailing at the waist. It only added some colour to the ensemble but also greatly complemented her svelte frame. Smokey eyes, hair neatly tied in a bun by Avni Rambhia and gorgeous cuffs and bangles from Aquamarine rounded out the look.

Katrina Kaif was spotted in a pink banana leaf sari from the label House of Masaba, which was teamed with a cream and gold blouse from the same label. The look was rounded with gold earrings, nude palette and blush pink lips while gold earrings, bangles and hair parted at the side completed it.

Clad in a black Mekhla Chador featuring fringe detail on the hemline, Tabu cut out a pretty picture. The dark-hued sari had red and pink embroidery all over it and was teamed with a black blouse. A dewy sheen with well-defined eyes, red lips, and a high top bun accentuated her look very well.

Chitrangada Singh was spotted in a monochrome sari and needless to say, she completely slayed the look. The Punit Balana creation was teamed with a bell sleeve blouse. Gorgeous silver earrings and a statement ring completed the look. We really liked the belt detail at the waist. 

If you are bored of saris and salwar suits, take cues from Karisma Kapoor. The actor opted for a navy blue top teamed with a black and gold embroidered skirt and a matching jacket from Payal Khandwala. She took her style quotient a notch higher by teaming it with gold jhumkas.
