Actor Dhanush and composer Anirudh Ravichander go a long way back as a pair and are known for their successful collaboration in films such as 3, VIP, Thanga Magan and Maari. Following an alleged fallout, the two stopped working together and Dhanush found a replacement for Anirudh in Sean Roldan, who worked with the former in films such as VIP 2 and Pa Paandi.
If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, the duo is expected to join hands in 2019. In his latest interview to Tamil magazine Vikatan, Anirudh confirmed he will join hands with Dhanush for a new project and the announcement regarding the same will be made in January 2019.
In a video interview a few months ago, Anirudh hinted he might reunite with Dhanush next year. “Not this year, but in 2019, Dhanush and I may work together,” Anirudh said.
Not long ago, rumours made the rounds that Anirudh might reunite with Dhanush for Maari 2, but Yuvan Shankar Raja was eventually signed for the project. The Dhanush-Anirudh combo has given several chartbusters including the globally popular Why This Kolaveri, which is undoubtedly one of their biggest hits. Ever since they stopped working together, both of them maintained stoic silence regarding their relationship.
On the career front, Dhanush is currently busy shooting for Maari 2, in which he returns as a dhoti-clad, mustache-twirling rowdy. As he awaits the release of Enai Noki Paayum Thota and his maiden Hollywood film The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir, he’s also gearing up for the shoot of his second directorial in which he will also play the lead. The project is expected to roll from this summer. He’s also expected to reunite with Raanjhanaa director Aanand L Rai for his third Hindi outing later this year.
Anirudh, on the other hand, is gearing up to commence work on Karthik Subbaraj’s next film with superstar Rajinikanth.
